works quite well. I'm using an esp32 with micropython, and I'm filtering the output by adding readings to a list, deleting the oldest reading, then averaging them. using the default ADC configuration and 3.3v, it's able to distinguish between very dark darks, (much darker than my phone's light sensor can) and bright brights. If I shine my flashlight at it, it maxes out. You can even use it as a kinda motion sensor by comparing the minimum and maximum readings from the filter list. Pretty neat 😊 Item is as described!
