You hear perfectly, I bought them for my teenage daughter and not hearing the music she listens on her mobile and by the way if she had calls. Tested with an s9 + and works perfectly for both listening to music and calls, tried with a xiaomi redmi 8 and the music very well, but the calls just hear the one wearing the headphones the other doesn't hear anything.
